a great layout.
it's a shame a beautiful course like this is going down hill. the fairways are spotty as are some of the greens. the pro shop staff is always freindly but someone one greens staff must think its funny to put the holes on the steepest slopes on the greens. i suppose the conditions are just a result of the poor economy.
Course needs the work...Not the clubhouse
I have played here many times over the last several years without disappointment. This time there was disappointment. It seemed that the course management staff and maintenance staff have lost the pride in their course. The course was not too busy on a day when the weather was overcast but dry, The $18 green fee with cart was worth the play. The course needs some relatively simple and inexpensive work on the greens, tee blocks (especially the forward 2 sets) and fairways. Water would be a good start on these. Some serious overseeding on the fairways is absolutely needed and several greens had large sections with dirt....not grass. In the proshop and on the course, ongoing reminders to the players to fix ball marks and divots would be a good idea. Start by having a marshal on course and by ensuring that the sand/grass mixture boxes on the carts are full for each cart on the course. Major work on the bar/restaurant kept that part of the course closed.
Golfers in our group and others also on the course were saying that they likely would go elsewhere to play if things were not "fixed up" this year despite the great rate package. I would give RSR another chance in the hope that some of the concerns of the players are addressed. This course can be a lot of fun to play, especially on the huge undulating greens.
nice layout poor condition
nice layout and can be tough. the course used to be nice hope that the new owners can turn it around. the review process that you have for us to fill out is more challenging than most courses I have ever played. dumb it down and you will get more and better reviews
The Course has rolling hills
The course has very little grass on the greens mostly hard baked out greens. A ball will not hold the greens. Quite a few fairways have littl grass. The layout is very nice it just need to be kept up.
Very Disappointing
I was directed to try out this track, not told of the current conditions. I was very disappointed and displeased with the quality of the course. Lack of grass, legitimate greens and tee boxes was terrible. The track has a fantastic layout, unfortunately it appears that ownership has other intentions with it. We paid $19 to play, and it should have come with a $15 discount. It could be one of the best courses around if the time money and energy were put back into it.
Good layout for the money
Course is recovering with much better greens and fairways. Tee boxes still need work. A GN Hot Deal too good to pass up!
Good course
Good course for a decent price. The 19th hole is being renovated, so it is currently unavailable.
fair course
The course has different levels of difficulty depending on choice of tees. It is a fair test of skills. You are rewarded for good shots, but penalized for errant play.
The course is not bad
Green is not excellent condition and some of them are sick. Fairway has too much brown spots and this condition is under average
Going down hill
Course is typically a little patchy but it seems to be in really poor condition at the moment. Needs some work. We paid a low rate and even then it wasn't great value for money.
this course has good layout .
Green was fast enough. But not enough grass. Fairway was terrible. Still can not complaining because green fee was so cheap.nice layout course.
Beautiful course design
The course has a good layout just poor course conditions. The course has continued to deteriorate since 2011.
Cheap But Bare Bones
This is a well laid out track with wide fairways and large greens. The facilities are average with a small clubhouse with minimum staff. On the course little to no fairway grass detracts from not only the beauty of the course, but increases the difficulty of making good fairway shots. The putting surface is fuzzy and slow creating a challenge to score well. The ease of the check in process, cart retrieval, and carts allowed in the parking lot are good feature.
Course needs work and T.L.C.
It is sad, but R.S.Ridge has fallen a notch or two since I last played it five months ago. The T-boxes were seeded with Winter Rye and were long, rough, and almost too deep to see your ball T'd up on a couple holes. The areas leading off of the golf cart path was full of pot holes and made travel from path to fairway a kidney buster. The fairways need a lot of attention. Some areas are too wet and some areas way too dry. Three of the putting greens were blighted by either disease or being cut too short or combination or heat and short mowing. One green looked like a car or truck did donuts on it. The rate has gone up for Winter rates . . . but there are a lot of other courses in better condition for same $. We will give it another try in three months.
A good challenge, not threatening but challenging
We like this course but have noticed that some work needs to be done on the fairways, they are showing their usage. Some tee boxes have been reseeded but still need some time. Overall, for the dollar it is a good value.
Great layout, lousy conditions
A great collection of holes, with rolling hills and mature trees. Large undulating greens are very challenging. But the rough is a collection of long weeds and dirt, the fairways are weeds and over seeded grass, and the greens are hard and thin making speed judgment a challenge. What could be one of the best tracks in the Orlando area has been relegated to a weed patch,
Don't pay more than $15 to play.
rough course-needs more attention on maintence !
it is a shame the way the course condition is-i used to play and was a member when it first opened-the lay out is great and would be more attractive if all 3 nines were open for golf, not frisbee!!! if the owner put money into the course fairway, tee boxes and putting surfaces and got rid of all the weeds and dirt, the place would be packed......the real bad part is i live less than 3 miles from course but will drive (every week) to play a nice course--i would like to call this my home course-but not until the owner takes pride in his place.
Overall, it is a very cool piece of property.
The course set up is a fair test. Housing is not too intrusive compared to many other local tracks. Fairways newly overseeded, and greens were ok. I can't wait until further maintenance and improvements take place. The rough is pretty nonexistent and messy...really needs attention there. Tee boxes were fairly weedy, but because the course has real potential, I did enjoy myself and would love to play again after a while. Keep working fellas...we need more and you can give it.
Course in poor condition --greens & fairways need weed-killer
Its hard to complain about a course I got off of GolfNow for $10, but in this case, you get what you pay for. The layout at RSR is good, but conditions are pretty weak. The greens putted surprisingly good, if you didn't have to go thru patches of weed-grass.
