Slightly tough test.. but very fair!!
We enjoyed our two rounds on this golf course very much. The course was in excellent shape and the facility has everything you need to enjoy your golf experience. They even pay close attention to the small details here... from the towels and water in your personal ice box on your cart, to the on board GPS system showing you "All you need to know" about each hole and what's ahead are just a few of the items to enhance the golf experience!
With multiple tee box options, it does allow for a wide variety of players to enjoy this beautiful golf course. The course has a great look from the tee box and allows for many shot choices to help set up the second shot. Bunkers are strategically located along the fairways and around the greens, with water in play on a few holes as well. Pay close attention to the pin locations on the GPS , because being on the correct portion of the green will be necessary to give those putts a chance to go in. I really enjoyed the challenge of this course layout (especially hole#6)!!! You will see the grounds crew out there constantly working to keep the course at it's finest, but they were always aware and courteous of when you were ready to play your next golf shot.
The staff in the pro shop, bag drop area and the restaurant were all welcoming and willing to assist you to make your experience enjoyable. We had lunch and the food was very good with quick service and reasonable pricing. The overall experience here was really nice!!
As a side note, we stayed at the Marriott Cypress Harbour Resort which is the property were this golf course is located. It took just a few minutes to get to the course and I just can't say enough "great things" about our stay at this resort!!! I can't wait to return for another vacation there...
Nice course
Overall a very good course. Staff friendly. Course in good shape despite closing down in March 2015. Greens are very difficult, hardly a flat lie anywhere and huge ridges on most greens.
Great day!
This course is in excellent condition. The greens were pretty fast but nice. The sand traps were manicured and the staff were very friendly. We were paired up with another couple from Texas and had a ball. Even enjoyed the 19th hole together. Fun day on the course!
5 hours plus!
After the starter gave a 5 minute speech about pace of play and that a marshal would be on the course to enforce it I did not expect it to take over 5 hours to play. We saw the marshal twice during our round, once on the forth hole when he said it was the group two ahead of us that was the problem and again on 17 when he rode by and said have a good evening. We waited to hit every shot from the third hole on, at one point there were 5 groups on a par 5. I understand it normally takes longer to play a resort course but 5+ hours is too long.
Still one of my favorites
Managed to get 36 holes in and lunch just as it was turning dark. Had a great time and the course was in good condition. Ranger kept coming out and telling us our time was good BUT there was space between us the group ahead and that the course was backing up behind us. We played the first 18 in right at 4 hours and they ask for a 4.5 hour round. Not sure what he wanted us to do. Other than that all was good. A bit disappointed that our unlimited golf deal limited out menu selection to a few choices where as before we had the run of the menu. Those few things did not knock the course out of my top 10. Remainder of the staff was great. Practice facilities were in top notch condition. I shall return!!!!!
5+ hours to play!
After the starter made a speech about a marshal being on course to monitor the pace of play, I was very disappointed that we only saw him twice and had to wait for every shot. The second group ahead of us was 3 holes behind at the turn and it only got worse. It was so bad, the group ahead of us quit after 15 holes.
Great Course Grooming
Very well kept course. Greens fast, the way we like them. Challenging but playable, doesn't beat you up. Course Design on most holes excellent. Would benefit from playing more than once because some hidden hazards jump up and bite you when you didn't know they were there. But overall great experience. Well Worth the value we payed.
Too bad this place will be bulldozed in 6 months or so....
Very nice course, the greens were tough!! Many breaks, very few straight putts.
Going to miss it~
What a great course. Great condition, personable staff, and very, very interesting holes. I can't believe this course is going to lose out to development later this year. I will miss it.
PS - the on cart GPS was excellent. I think it also promotes a satisfying pace of play in 4 hours.
Grande Pines Golf Club
The Golf Course was in excellent sharp, especially the greens. I was able to get a good price through Golf
now.com If it wasn't for Golfnow.com. I wasn't going to paid there expensive green fees. Will definitely play again if the price is right
Over Booked
Very Slow!!! 3 hours just to play front 9.
Leave this one for the tourist, they are closing the course in the spring anyway.
get what you pay for
was kind of expensive for what was available elsewhere at same time, but because it was a Friday and was located close to where I was staying I went for it. scenic and challenging course, greens rolled pretty good as well. was worth the expense.
Beautiful course
This is a 1st class resort. From the moment I pulled up I was treated wonderfully. Dropped at the bag drop went and checked in. Had range balls given to me. Staff was very friendly. Course is in excellent condition. Greens are very true and fast. Everything you would expect and more from a world class name like Marriott. Highly recommended!!!
A good solid resort course
I enjoyed my round on this resort course. The conditions were good and the rough around the greens was a real challenge.
There were a not of narrower fairways between roads and resort buildings, which increased the challenge.
The staff were very friendly and cheerful but I heard that the course has been sold to a developer so it may not be around for long.
Good value for money if you are reasonably straight.
One of the nicest courses I played
Greens are in very well conditions. Stuff very friendly. Everytime again.
Say Goodbye to a GREAT GOLF COURSE
Its a crying shame that the course was sold. Grande Pines is one of the best if not THE best challenging courses in Central Florida. I have been playing there since it opened and am broken hearted at the coming destruction of such a fine golf course. But...money talks and in this case it has. Get your rounds in before it closes forever.
Great course
It was a very beautiful course and we will be back very soon
This great course will be closed next March – shame!
A must play until they will turn this into condos, villas etc. This is one of the nicest courses in Orlando with an interesting layout, always well maintained and in good condition. Pity, that money wins against a gorgeous piece of nature… Go there and play it, as long it is there.
The only bad thing was, that on that day, there was a kind of a junior tournament played there and these juniors were the worst slow players I have ever seen! This resulted in a round of much more than 5 hours! At least we got cold towels from the player’s assistant, thanks!
Overall a very good course, some holes challenging, but well playable.
Great Course
Loved playing Grande Pines. Not prepared for the difficulty. Water in play on some holes. Fairways & greens excellent. Have heard it's to be closed by next year, condos on the horizon.??
Very Challenging Course
The course was in excellent condition even with the amount of rain they received for a couple days. The course was cart path only and it played long. We definitely will play the course again and our experience with Golf Now in making the reservation was extremely satisfying.
