Deer Run is Good Value & Convenient Location
This was a good Hot Deal Special for 11am on a Saturday. Good pace-of-play for my 2some, until we ran into groups on the back9; still no problem with timely round. Greens are OK, nothing special, and course still has some wet areas needing better drainage. Staff outside & in are very pleasant & polite, so no problems there either. I don't think I hit any bunkers, but the sand looked wet & needing better drainage in those areas around the greens. At any rate, the convenient location brings me back occassionally.
Needs some work
No sand in the traps, just dirt. Greens are in pretty poor condition.
Its a great course to play, challenging and laid out nicely. Just needs some TLC.
Great staff, nice layout
Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Course layout is quite challenging but fairways are wide enough to make for a successful game for a novice player. Only complaint is that some of the greens had quite a bit of damage from the local sand hill cranes, and a few of them had newly installed turf, which didn’t allow the ball to track well. Greens had also recently been aerated and had a lot of new sand on them, making the putting that much more challenging. Give it a month and things should be in good shape. We’ll come back for another round.
Great layout poor conditions
Is sad to see the financial impact of the decline in support in Florida courses
Nice place
Read some horrible reviews, but I go Wigan open mind.
Staff couldn't of been any more helpful.
Course, had to think your way around, greens in my opinion were good.
T boxes, ok not the best, but you put a t on it and hit, good enough for me.
Bar and staff first class.
I always ask myself after a round, would I go back answer yes please
Nice bounceback from Irma
I get out here about once a month...great neighborhood course. I'd heard Deer Run took a major hit from Irma. This was my first time out since then...and with the exception of a few trees down and a couple of greens...the course was very playable. Only critique...would love to see better greens... but a commendable effort by all involved to bring the course back so fast. Great work! Always a friendly staff.
JUST OKAY
TEE BOXES IN BAD SHAPE AS WELL AS SOME OF THE GREENS.
THE HOLE COURSE NEEDS SOME WORK!
Always a delight
Good reason this course is always a favorite when you take into consideration the awesome staff, great food, and pace of play. You can always find courses in a little better condition, for a lot more money. But in my book, the ship to the PGA tour sailed a long time ago, and it ain't comin back ! So for my money, see ya next week boys:)
Great Course
Great course with some easy and some more challenging holes. Ideal for novices. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
Nice course
Nice course for the price. This course will now be my most played. Great value.
Deer run
First few holes in front and back are nice. As you go farther in and out there are fairways with patchy grass and the greens have dirt patches in them. Ball landed in a pile of something from a dog in a bunker. Thought that was odd. Course played well enough though. Just have to hit your spots and avoid the rough patches on the greens.
Minor tweaks
This is a great course to have in the neighborhood. Played on a Friday, had the place to myself. Do the world a favor...take the dogleg out of #2. 6 iron off the tee and a hybrid approach is awkward and I'm a low handicapper. The hole would be challenging enough as a par 4...and you could create an alternate tee for #12 that would make that hole a LOT more interesting for better players. Fun track, challenging...just needs some TLC around the tees and greens.
It's been in better shape.
Several greens were in bad shape. Some of the tee boxes were really bad. Fairways were decent. Overall the course has gone declined since the last time I played there which was about two months ago.
Layout is a little funky. Bunker's don't drain properly. Lost 1ball and it was in a large puddle in a trap. Course condition was fair. Overall it's a nice neighborhood course and a good value.
Acceptable considering the drought
The fairways were in decent shape and well maintained. However, most of the greens were bumpy with several exhibiting isolated bare spots. The bumps made it difficult to read a line, and the ball hopped on it's way to the hole. The tee's were a mixed lot with some in good shape, and others lacking sufficient grass.
The sand traps were well maintained. I visited the beach often, and with the exception of one hole, (flooded by recent rains) the sand was soft and manageable.
The pace of play was excellent, finished 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours.
Neighborhood treasure of Fun
Our local courses are having trouble keeping their golf courses up to par (pun intended) with the drought we are in right now. Deer Run has done an excellent job maintaining a playable course and decent green feels. Definitely returning for more rounds this summer.
